Q. I have completed a booking form and paid my booking fee. When will I receive the tenancy agreement?
A. First you will receive an email confirming we are dealing with your booking. You will be sent a tenancy agreement when all the paperwork is in order and we have received the documents requested on the booking form. When you receive the tenancy agreement you must sign it and return it within 14 days.
Q. When do I need to pay my first rental installment?
A. Your first rental payment is due 10 days before the Tenancy starts.
Q. What does my deposit cover & when will I get it back deposit?
A. Your deposit covers any damage you cause to your room. This does not include normal wear and tear. Your deposit is registered with the Tenancy Deposit Scheme.
Q. When can I move in?
A. If you are booking between January and September 2010 you can select the date you move in.
If you are booking from September 2010 the move in date will be September 25th. You may be able to move in earlier if your room is available, please contact the office regarding this.
Q. What does the weekly rent cover?
A. The rent covers your room, use of the communal facilities, all utility bills such as electricity, hot water and heating, and basic insurance cover. It also includes your 20mb broadband connection and IPTV phone line.
Q. How do I pay my rent?
A. Students without a UK guarantor have to pay the full amount of rent (51 weeks) upfront. Normally students pay the rent upfront, but in some cases where the guarantor is based in England or Wales we will accept payments on a termly basis.
Q. Are my possessions insured in my room?
A. We have an agreement with Endsleigh Insurance who provide room contents cover up to £4,000. This can be upgraded by you.
Q. Do I need to buy a TV licence?
A. No, we have taken care of this payment for you.
Q. What TV channels are available?
A. Every TV has an IPTV feed so you will have access to many channels. Please ask for more details.
Q. What internet service do you provide?
A. We provide a super fast internet service that is 20 MB.
Q. Who do I contact if I have an emergency or problem?
A. You will need to contact the Accommodation team or the emergency services, depending on the problem. Details of all contacts will be supplied to you in your tenant handbook.
Q .Do I have to pay council tax?
A. Students are exempt from council tax, so no, you do not have to pay it.
Q. What is the cost of the laundry?
A. The washing machine costs £2.50 and the dryer is £1.

Q. I don’t have a UK guarantor?
A. This is not a problem but you will need to pay the year’s rent upfront.
Q. I don’t live in the UK and don’t have a UK bank account – what should I do?
A. You can pay your rent by credit card or transfer the amount of rent to our client account, please contact the accommodation team for details. When you arrive in the UK we advise you to open a bank account.
